CD Review

Now Playing: Hopes and Fears by Keane

I must say, I rarely obsess over a single album or artist and when I do it is usually a movie soundtrack. But ever since I discovered Keane a week and a half ago, I've been hooked. I've listened to hardly anything else in the ten days since I've known about this awesome band.

A little background seems to be in order...

Keane is a British band composed of three members: Tom Chaplin, Richard Hughes, and Time Rice-Oxley. The band was formed during highschool, but they didn't release an album until May of 2004--Hopes and Fears. They were an immediate sucess. Hopes and Fears sold over 5 million copies worldwide. They won two Brit Awards in 2005 (British Breakthrough Act and Best Album); Q Magazine's Best Album award; and were nominated in the Best New Act category at The Grammys. Keane released their second album, Under the Iron Sea the beginning of this year.

It is a rare thing for me to find an album that I can listen to all the way through, without skipping a single track. Hopes and Fears is one of them, as is Under the Iron Sea. Both are excellent albums, and I'm eagerly waiting to see what else this band turns out!

So if you have the smallest chance to listen to Keane, take it! You won't be disappointed... but beware. It's a band that you want to listen to over and over again. 10/10 Highly Recommended.
