Freedom!!

My composition midterm wasn't nearly as bad as I expected it to be... I did a sort of "pretest" myself where I wrote a five-paragraph composition in forty minutes with no be verbs. I think that helped me because I realized I could do it. And as it ended up... I had an hour instead of forty minutes!

*whew* I misread the guidelines apparently. I had forty-five minutes of writing time and fifteen minutes of outlining time. So that instantly took away some of the stress... and I found a topic which I felt like I could write on and... well... I wrote! It all went by so fast. I was done writing it with 27 minutes to spare, actually! It was wonderful. I'm so thankful...

Now comes the wait for the grade... I hope I do good! :-\

On a side note, I got an A on my biology test, for which I am very happy. :) So yes... the stress is slowly decreasing. Now I just need to finish my experiment reports and I'll be FREEEEEE!!!!!!!

...For a week. ^_^ Yay Thanksgiving break!!

"FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!" (Mel Gibson style!)

  • WOOOT!!!!

Yay for the (temporary) end of stress! Gratz, and I'm glad it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. I've always been able to write well. I'm sure I make mistakes, but that doesn't change the fact that my instructors/teachers usually really wanted to read what I wrote. :)

I would like to share a story. :)

Many years ago, I took an English 101 class with my then-girlfriend, Kim. :) The instructor was Dr. Kimberly Manner, who was quite possibly the greatest English instructor I ever had. She told the class early on that she had BS'ed her way through her undergrad work, and therefore KNEW how to spot BS when she saw it. She said that students in her class NEVER got away with BS, and she could always tell when they didn't put the time in to do a good job. Well, blockhead that I am, that sounded like a challenge to me.

We had a running assignment throughout the year where we had to collect memorable quotes, present them in an interesting way, and explain why they were memorable to us. It was called the quote collection journal, and much to Kim's dismay I did NOTHING on it until the last minute. In fact, I did ALL the work on it the night before. Mind you, we had to have 40 quotes, and had to present it nicely....she had to be able to tell that we worked on it throughout the semester. She indicated that we didn't HAVE to have quotes from the required readings, but it would be nice if she could tell that we'd worked on the journal throughout the semester.

During work the night before it was due, I did the whole journal...quotes and all. I got 100%. :) Finished it in about an hour and a half. And in the journal, she wrote, "Good Job!" And to my face, she said, "I could really tell you spent a great deal of time on that journal, and I enjoyed reading it." Man, that was awesome.

  • LOL. That's hilarious, Chris. Wow...

My favorite highschool English teacher always told us to never wait until the night before to do our assignments. Why? "You'll die or wish you had." And I actually proved that statement several times. haha.

But it's great when procrastination actually works sometimes. And hey, sometimes you work better under pressure like that anyway, wot? =P

I told you it wouldn't be too bad, girlie. I know you did great. ^_^

Now it's on to celebrate by going to see The Prestige tomorrow! w00t!!! ^_^

  • LOL. Indeed...waiting until the last minute is not good for the stress level. :-D
