Now Watching: Spiderman 3 The IMAX Experience

After weeks of looking forward to it, I finally saw Spiderman 3! And on the amazingly huge IMAX screen!

But the day was not without adventure... For weeks, we had been planning on going to the 1:20 showing. However, as always seems to happen, we were running late and there was traffic! So, as we sat helplessly in stop-and-go traffic, the clock trudged steadily along until it decided that it was a good idea to say 1:00.

Thankfully, this was as we were getting off the freeway and pulling into the theatre parking lot. So, we scrambled hurriedly out of the car and raced to the box office. There wasn't much of a line (thank goodness!), so we made it to the ticket window relatively quickly. This is what happened:

Ticket buyer #1 (I can't remember which of us it was): "One for IMAX Spiderman."
Ticket dude: "The 1:20 showing?"
Ticket buyer #1: "Yup,"
Ticket dude: "We're sold out... next showing is at 4:10."
Us: "O_O."

I found this exchange quite hilarious, as I had just been saying on the way over that I didn't think that IMAX stadium would ever fill up all the way. *koff* Shows what I know!

Anyways, after a quick discussion, we decided that we would just hang out around the theatre, and then go to the 4:10 showing. So that's what we did! We bought our tickets, stowed them somewhere safe, and then hung out. The teenagers (plus one 20-year-old) of the group walked over to Barnes & Nobles, since my sis had to pick up two books that she had on hold there. I also gave in and bought Shawn Twilight. I would've bought New Moon too, but they had misplaced all six copies. o_O *lol*

After we had completed our book-browsing, we walked back over to the theatre (with only a few fights breaking out between the guys) and headed into Fudrucker's for lunch. Mmm... burgers! =D By the time we finished eating (And laughing hysterically at many amusing anecdotes told by our table mates), it was about time to go line up for the show. Which we did.

We had about ten people in front of us, I think, so we were pretty sure we would get good seats. Which we did, although we were maybe a bit too far forward. Oh well. The screen is so huge, it doesn't really matter where you sit! It's still crazy-awesome. My caffeine was kicking in at about this point, so I was going totally crazy as I waited for the movie to start.

At 4:10 sharp, the movie started! No trailers, just the movie! And oh man, it was awesome! I think, even after seeing it only once, I like it more then either of the other two! It has a lot more depth to it then the first two, and is considerably more serious. I mean, a main character dies! And oh man, that sucked... I would have cried rather hard, but I had promised a certain person that I wouldn't, soo... *rolls eyes* Curse you, Shawn! ;)

Anyways, it's a great movie. I definitely want to go see it again (so I can cry properly)... Maybe after that, I'll write a real review of it! =D But yes, it's definitely an awesome movie! I'm not quite sure why it's getting such horrible reviews--I'd recommend it for any fan of Spidey, and even some people who aren't fans!

One more thing: Peter going emo = Hilarious.

  • It was indeed the best of the 3 in my opinion. I rather enjoyed it, and really enjoyed telling stories in line before. ;)

  • Yay! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that. Actually, I think pretty much everyone in our group liked it, which is a rare thing. Normally we have a few people who aren't so sure about whether they liked the movie or not. But this one was unanimous! ^_^

And oh man, you told some awesome stories! If you hadn't been there, that wait would've been a LOT more boring... But you kept it interesting! You entertained the whole line! =D Thanks!

  • Yeah, I vote Chris has to go to everything we go to now. Man, I think the best part was when you started dying from that Video that Kim mentioned. That was the best part. :P

Yeah, you gave in. Why did you give in anyway? What happened to, "No, you can buy the books yourself!"? I didn't think my argument was that convincing. :P

Yup! Both verbally and Physical. Man that was fun, as were the burgers and stories. Unfortunately I was sitting at the other end of the table, so I didn't get to hear much of what Chris was saying.

Hey! I said you were gunna cry, then you had it in yourself that you were NOT just to prove me wrong. That's your fault, not mine. But yeah, a lot of the emotional stuff I kinda missed first time around because at one part a group of people started laughing. It killed it for me and I started laughing also. That was a bit more sad though. I kept looking over going, "is she crying yet?"

I think your never going to cry in a movie when I'm there again. (maybe blood diamond, but I think that'd be about it :P)

BTW, he entertained us, but I think other people were like, "who is that loud guy and why don't they tell him to be quiet?!?" :P

  • Oh man, yeah... that was hilarious. I started laughing just watching you laugh that hard, Chris. You're hilarious! *cracks up at the memory* You have a very contageous laugh. *nods wisely*

Well, I thought of it this way: I can put my foot down and refuse to buy the books for him, which will result in one of two things: He won't buy them (which I didn't want), or Jen will just buy them for him. So, it makes no difference whether I buy them or not. :P So I decided I'd do it. But then your plan backfired 'cause you had to sign the receipt! Bwuha! ;)

Yeah, I was directly in the middle of the two conversations. Which is funny, because every time I have gone to Fudruckers with a group of people, I'm ALWAYS in the middle. So then I'm torn between the two conversations. *rolls eyes* It's annoying. I'm going to make a point of not sitting in the middle next time... heh.

No, I seem to remember that you said something to the extent that it was not possible for me to not cry. And I said it was. So then I had to prove that it was. And lol, the not-crying thing was totally worth it at the end of the movie. You look over, see that I'm not crying: "DANGIT!" *lol* I laughed. It was funny.

But yeah, I'll probably never cry around you again. Well... I dunno. I might. *shrug* But I'm not ever watching Blood Diamond (or X3) with you again. :P Blood Diamond, because I'll cry. X3, because I will be sorely tempted to knock you out.

    *koff*

rofl, yeah, I think some of the people were just like O_o. But then, when Chris was doing his Sean Connery impression, the people behind us were laughing really hard... *lol* That was awesome. Thanks for entertaining the whole line, Chris! ^_^

  • Haha, wasn't Spiderman awesome? ^_^ I really enjoyed it. I actually liked his black suit better than the regular one, it's more blending-in than the red one. But he is kinda emo and mean when he's in that one. =P

I'm glad I didn't make you mad with my Anne Frank post! Haha. That just annoys me to no end. *nods*

    I love you! <33

  • so? I'm giving myself the benefit of the doubt in saying the clerk thought that I was buying the book for you. Plus, if Gen was just gunna buy them, why didn't you let Gen do it?

haha, or go in not such a big group, that would work too. Though I'm guessing we'll be back again for pirates or HP, that'll be fun. We should see HP on the IMAX, that would rule.

Oh, what I said was You were going to cry in Spiderman 3, and you proceeded to say that I was wrong and you weren't. You were trying to prove something to yourself, not me. I could see the concentration on your face though, I guess that was worth it.

Why not Blood Diamond, it's not like you didn't cry the last time we watched it. :P X3 I guess I can sorta understand maybe a little. You have to admit, if Woody wasn't there/had already seen it those comments would be hilarious. The best part was the alternate ending though, I just about died laughing.

Yes, Chris and his Sean Connery, Strong Bad, and Dubya Bush impersonations are very good.
