It's interesting to see how our brains make connections...

I was talking to a friend on the phone yesterday and we were discussing memories... How, for example, certain songs remind you of certain books, or certain CDs remind you of certain places.

A few years ago, my brother, sister, and I were all absolutely obsessed with Evanescence. However, I haven't listened to any of their music in a long time. But today, I felt the sudden desire to listen to Fallen. So, I did.

Instantly, I was reminded of being with my brother and sister at Lake Tahoe, sitting down in the basement and singing Ev songs at the top of our lungs.

Funny how that works, isn't it?

It's also interesting how my voice range has increased... apparently singing Nightwish and Within Temptation has helped. Evanescence, which always seemed impossibly hard, is a piece of cake! *sings*

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?

Leading you down into my core, where I've become so numb...
Without a soul, my spirit sleeping somewhere cold
Until you find it there and lead it back home...

Wake me up inside, wake me up inside
Call my name and save me from the dark...
Bid my blood to run, before I come undone
Save me from the nothing I've become...

Now that I know what I'm without
You can't just leave me
Breathe into me and make me real...
Bring me to life

Wake me up inside, wake me up inside
Call my name and save me from the dark...
Bid my blood to run, before I come undone
Save me from the nothing I've become...
Bring me to life...

Frozen inside without your touch, without your love, darling.
Only you are the life among the dead...
All of this time I can't believe I couldn't see

Trapped in the dark, but you were there in front of me.
I've been sleeping a thousand years it seems
Got to open my eyes to everything...
Without a thought, without a voice, without a soul
Don't let me die here...
There must be something more
Bring me to life...

  • haha, awesome! Maybe we can have a girl sing afterall... if I had to sing it then... uhhh... How would we explain that?

No, no I am not the next Michal Jackson, this is my natural voice. SHUDDUP THE GUY FROM QUEEN... oh wait he was gay... fraaaaaaakk. :P

But that's good, when took voice lessons at the JC, it helped a lot. There's a lot more to singing then you'd think, it's crazy.

I never got into Evanescence though, I went though the, "the only music worth listening to is underground metal and music played on the radio SUCKS!" (which most of it still does) But yeah, I'll have to start listening to them now.

  • haha, yeah. I was thinking: "Oh, Final V should do some Ev covers..." That would be cool. *nod*

Aaand, uh, yeah. We're about to go over to some friends' house for dinner, so I've got to shut up before this turns into a novel-length comment. :P

Final V must do some Ev covers. Definitely. And you must listen to Evanescence. Definitely.

    That is all.
